ABOUT US

The mission of Save Our Children Movement Inc. is to provide some of the basic needs of children in, but not limited to, the low income areas, including food, clothing and meaningful, supportive and encouraging relationships. In addition, we want to foster individual and community empowerment.

Our vision is to create a safe environment in which the children establish productive relationships and a positive sense of self and community.

Save Our Children Movement Inc.'s goals include empowering children, families and communities by providing basic needs, education (i.e. political, career, financial and life skills) and advocacy to both the communities and the  individual child and family of all races primarily in lower income communities where resources are scarce and issues sometimes neglected.

The Movement was started in 2014 with the vision of one man but grew with the passion of many.

Mr. Rodney McGill challenged his Facebook friends who joined him in many conversations about the state of our youth and the need to "save our babies", to stop talking about the problems and to take action. He asked that all who wanted to show their committment to making a difference in the lives of children, to meet him in the parking lot of a local community center one March Sunday in 2014. Several Facebook friends stepped up to the challenge and met him in the parking lot. From there, the group decided to sponsor a cookout on April 19, 2014. On April 19th at Erwin Center in Gastonia NC, under a shelter in the rain, a dedicated few showed up even one couple from Greensboro NC, to feed the community with food donated by the Facebook community.

We must all lead and continue to make leaders so that the movement never dies. While Mr. McGill continues to take the lead in the early stages of the movement,  it is important to recognize that the movement belongs to us all; anyone who wants to make a different in the lives and communities of future generations. Assistance is provided to anyone wanting to take the lead in their local community to emulate and improve on the efforts that began in April 2014.
